New Cadet Information Night – September 11, 2017

We are recruiting new cadets

781A new school year comes, it is time to consider joining Cadets.

Are you between the ages 12 to 18 and interested in flying or the air element of the Armed Forces? Are you looking for a challenge to bring out the best in yourself and your abilities? Then look no further, because the Air Cadets is the program for you. You’ll make lifelong friends, learn valuable skills and increase your self-esteem.

We are hosting an information session on Monday, September 11, 2017 to provide information for parents and children who are interested. We will also enroll new Cadets for those who want to sign up.

Please find some detailed information below:

Time: Monday, September 11, 2017. Presentation starts at 7:00 pm
Location: We are located at the Vecova Recreation Centre, 3304 – 33rd Street NW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, T2L 2A6.
Locate us using the street map

Parking: Parking is free at the parking lots around Vecova.

General Outline:

This new recruit night at the squadron will be conducted in 3 phases:

  1. Phase 1 – Setup various areas
  2. Phase 2 – Conduct Activities including:
    1. Presentation to the Parent/Guardians and registration
    2. New Recruits to go with the senior cadets for some fun cadet related activities
  3. Phase 3 – Tear-down

Important information for children want to sign up:

  1. You can fill the Application Form and bring it together with you to save time or you can fill the form at the event;
  2. Please bring one of the following pieces of identification on the applicant:
    – A valid Canadian passport; OR
    – A birth certificate; OR
    – A valid resident card; OR
    – A valid identification card issued by a Canadian provincial or federal government agency
  3. Please bring the Alberta Health Card of the applicant.

Cadet Mess Dinner and Award Ceremony

What: Mess Dinner and Award Ceremony to celebrate the end of the training year
Who: Cadets who have reserved a spot and staff at the mess dinner portion, family and friends welcome for the award portion
When: Saturday June 10th – Arrive at 1830 for the Mess Dinner, Family/Friends to come at 2030 for the Awards Ceremony
What to wear: Officer Staff: No 2 Mess/No 2B Mess Service/No 3
CI’s & CV’s: Business Formal
Cadets: Male – C-2/C-8 Mess
Cadets: Female – C-2/C-8 Mess/Appropriate Dress

Announcements Jun 5 – 7

Monday June 5 – ACR Practice

Time: 1830-2130
Location: Start at the Parade Square and move into the back parking lot if it is nice outside
Who: All Cadets
What to Wear: Civvies
What to Bring: Your uniform for an inspection, and a water bottle for hydration

Monday June 5 – Level 3 Evaluation Make-ups

Time: 1830-2130
Location: Seminar Room at the start
Who: All Level 3 Cadets
What to Wear: Civvies
What to Bring: Your lesson plans for instruction, and any required materials

Monday June 5 – Supply Open Time

Time: 1900-2100
Location: Supply room
Who: Any cadet requiring exchange of uniform, badges, etc  and Specifically for the Surviviar team to bring back their uniform
What to Wear: Civvies
What to Bring: Uniform parts if exchanging

Tuesday June 6 – Band & Flag Party Practice

Time:1900-2130
Location: Seminar Room at the start for the Band
Who: All Band and Flag Party cadets (FP only required for the last hour)
What to Bring:Instruments, music, water bottle
What to Wear: Civvies

Wednesday June 7 – ANNUAL CEREMONIAL REVIEW (ACR)

ACR is the amazing end of the year celebration where the cadets get to show off all that they have accomplished throughout the year.  Attendance is MANDATORY.
Time: 1800-2100
Location:Art Smith Aero Centre (1916 McCall Landing N.E., Calgary, Alberta) – come through the building to the tarmac in the back.
Who: All Cadets, Parents, Friends, etc
What to Wear: C-1 – this is the full ceremonial dress including medals, shirt, and tie
What to Bring: water bottle & be prepared to be outdoors for the ceremony (sunscreen might be required)
